All,

I have this problem with Safari and it's bugging me like crazy. On my G4 DP 450, whenenver I try to login to Yahoo Mail it fails with the message:

"If you are seeing this page, your browser settings prevent you from automatically redirecting to a new URL. Please click here to continue."

Well the "click here" part doesn't work because the page dismisses so quickly you don't have a chance to click. I had to be really fast with the screen shot keys just to capture the msg.

The strange part is I can login to Yahoo Mail from my Powerbook with Safari. Both systems are at 10.3.1. Strangely, though, Safari is 1.1.1 (v100.1) on the G4 DP 450 whereas on the Powerbook it is version 1.1 (v100). I don't know how this can be. The Powerbook version works, the DP 450 doesn't. I can login to Yahoo Mail with IE on both computers but I'd prefer to stick with Safari.

I've tried looking at the Preferences between the apps and nothing is jumping out at me here. Has anyone experienced this failure to redirect and do you know where I might look to solve this problem?

Thanks in advance,
Todd

You haven't done the latest Security Update on your PowerBook yet.
Nasrudin sat on a river bank when someone shouted to him from the opposite side: "Hey! how do I get across?" "You are across!" Nasrudin shouted back.

Oops, my bad. I thought I was at the latest S/W updates on the Powerbook. Now I am.

Now that both systems are at the same level, the problem still remains in that I can't login to Yahoo Mail without a page redirect error on the DP 450 yet I can login to Yahoo Mail from the Powerbook. I've Emptied the Cache and Reset Safari all to no avail.

The only difference between the two systems is that the DP 450 was set to "Block Pop-Up Windows". I was seeing the "page redirect" msg on the Powerbook as well but Mail loaded fine since it wasn't set to block pop-ups.

Unselecting "Block Pop-Up Windows" worked. I can now login to Yahoo Mail. Why would a page redirect like this be considered a pop-up, though?

To conclude the issue all along was caused by the "Block Pop-Up Windows" being set.

Todd

[Edit] I'm still not pleased. The behavior between the two systems is not the same. Even after unchecking the "Block Pop-Up Windows" I am still not redirected to the mail page. I am thrown back to the login page eventhough I am logged in!! Changing the URL to mail.yahoo.com takes me to my mailbox and presto, I'm logged in. On the Powerbook, though, the login process takes me right to the mail window, not back to the login window. So there still seems to be a redirect issue/bug here.
