I have a russian xvid movie which comes with .ace file for the subtitles. I have tried using it with Mplayer and VLC but I can't get the subtitles to play at all.
Any help appreciated.

for future reference, .ace's are compressed archives.
ie. like .sit, .zip or .rar ....

"Sorenson Squeeze is built on Sorenson Media's Automated Compression Engine (ACE). ACE is a middleware software engine that dramatically simplifies the task of compressing audio and video for both progressive download and streaming delivery."

Makes me wonder...

.ace can be expanded with some command line tools.

This Sorenson ACE must be something different.
And if anyone knows about comamndline tools for decompressing .ace files I'd like to hear about them. The only one I found a time ago was a somewhat unstable linux tool at www.winace.com.

There is a command line tool for Mac OS X that can downloaded from Winace.com.
But there is no Graphic interface for it...
