Why iDVD 3.0.1 + OS X 10.3.1 did not work?

I've installed 10.3.1 and iDVD 3.0.1. Any newly created project or old projects with video and/or chapeters from iMovie continuosly crash the entire system. This happens when iDVD is rendering contents before burning. I noted that Activity Monitor shows "Hung" as status and processors reach nearly 110% usage and the system froze. Some times the system froze when the project is loaded.
The sistem is a dual G5 with 1GB ram.
iTunes also froze the entire system once at track 9 when ripping a CD
with 18 tracks. All other apps work greatly: ffmpegX, DVD2One DVDCopy etc...

Someone else with same problems.
