Since upgrading to 10.3, I can't successfully initiate or receive an audio chat in iChat AV. I get a "network timeout" error has occurred.

It worked fine in 10.2.8. I'm behind a Netgear router. I opened all the ports that iChat uses, even though audio chat worked fine in 10.28 without configuring the router.

Then, tonight, I installed the security update for 10.3.1. After restarting, I launched iChat and initiated an audio chat. I connected fine and the audio worked. I quit iChat, relaunched it, and try an audio chat. It failed with the same "Network timeout" error.

It's as if an update resets some networking feature which is then corrupted by iChat. Quite a few people over at the Apple discussion forums are pissed about this problem introduced by 10.3. There is some suspicion that Panther has networking issues with SIP.

Is anyone else experience iChat audio problems behind a firewall?

Have you done a clean or an archived install?

Yes. And I've created a new user. Like I said, it works immediately after a system or security update. But the second time I try it, it ceases to work. It's as if iChat is corrupting something, but deleting the iChat prefs doesn't work.

Had this problem. Check the version number of iChat. We found that we were still running the old version, so found the running version and deleted it (someone had moved it). After that sound has been perfect.

It's the latest version, 2.0 (v 145).
