Hi there!

Is there anyone who knows if it is possible to remove the limit of four connections in Safari? Like if you are downloading 4 items at the same time you can't browse. Or am I the only onw with this problem? And if you have 8 downloads queued only 4 will download at the same time.

I guess I don't understand the problem. If you are capping out your bandwidth by downloading 4 things at once, of course your browsing is going to be grounded to it's knees.

And Safari maximizing your 4 downloads compared to spreading it out over 8 d/l's is going to yield the same results...

But I would like a option to chose how many dloads I want to run simultaneous. And When I was using IE, before the times of safri I was able to download 6-7 seven items at the same time I was surfing.

Maybe you need to give "Speed Download 2" a try...

If you're going to use something other than Safari, please don't use Speed Download.

Some of their "marketing" tactics are very dodgy, including for example when an article was published being critical about the load that download accelerators posting a comment about the article, proporting to be from a "Server Admin" saying that Speed Download was just fine and didn't cause any problems.

If you want to use a download accelerator, please use something other than Speed Download, and please don't use the "acceleration" features of that software, which places much higher load on the servers that provide free bandwidth and downloads for the Mac community.

Yes, ALL download accelerators cause some real havoc for smaller servers. So try to only use them on server you know can handle it.

This is the only thing I can't stand about Safari and started a thread on this months ago.

I will be downloading 4 files and once and try to visit another site.... no go. I can't do jack till one of the downloads is finished.

I've been looking for a solution to this for a long time. I haven't been able to find one yet. The only other option is to use OmniWeb, which has a terminal command that you can use to change the number of simultaneous connections to whatever you want.

why bother replying like this? Either try to help or don't reply at all.

you can download a simple file in Safari then.

if you are downloading more than 4 files... go with command line wget or just switch to IE.
