Here is the deal. Lets say I go to a desktop image site. I then click to view the full size image to get the max preview. After the image fully loads, I have technically downloaded it right? Why then must I re-download it again when dragging the image from safari to the desktop. Also, If I choose to download to disk, one would think that it would take a lot faster as I have already downloaded it.

This is a bugger for me. I used IE for a long time, but moved to safari because it has a ton of other features I like. Is there a fix for this problem?

Thanks,

R

Not that I know of. Have you tried Camino to see if it's better ?

i've been really curious if this was some strange option or if there was a really odd feature reason or whatever. this is odd, odd behavior, and i kinda don't like it.

no deal breaker or anything, but really curious, as it's true, you download it twice... waste of bandwidth...

pc.

If you hit comand-s instead of dragging it to the desktop, then it is not downloaded again.

Weird.

Actually, you do. It really is the same process, just that one was initiated by dragging the image from the browser and the other by the save function.

I really have the same problem. One would assume that Safari loaded the image into the ram or something like that. Another thing that bothers me is that my Safari does not seem to remember pages i've visited. eg. after going to MacNN and then returning. MacNN loads at the same speed it did when I first visited the site some time ago. Would Dynamic webpage loading speed things up ? Does Safari support DHTML ? kinda off topic i guess. I apologize for that.

I have a solution. If you want to download images quickly anyway. All you do is open Preview while you are browsing. See an image you like? Copy it to the clipboard via cntrl+click or right clicking the image. Choose copy to clipboard, then command + tab over to Preview and do a command + N. This automatically does a "new image from clipboard."
