With the ultra cool Fast user Switching option in Panther, I have finally decided to put all members of the family on their own account.

This is great for most things but there are still some things that I would like to share between all users. The iCal calendar being one of them.

How can I have all users access (read AND write) the same iCal files? Subscribe doesn't work since that is a read only option.

Thank you very much for any help.

just an idea:

i rather think you're stuck using publish, so maybe all the family can publish/share similarly named and color coded calendars.

so your green family events and your daughter's 'family events' or 'school events' will look the same, even tho you add to yours and she adds to hers.

there might even be more functionality doing it this way.

(i come from a family of eight children, so i love the picture i have of your home network).

I don't know for sure. But if you are willing to experiment, your calendars are stored in ~/Library/Calendars/.

I would suggest moving them to /Users/Shared/Calendars/ Make sure everyone can read and write to that directory. Then make an alias of the /Users/Shared/Calendars/ directory in everyone's Library.

Aliases don't work. or at least they didn't, you have to create UNIX symbolic links, and then lock them. At least that's how it worked on iCal 1.0 (I don't want to try and redo my setup, it took along time to get it right and messing with it would require more learning.)
