I'd love to talk to some other folks who are using Transmit. I really like the program a lot, although I wish it were possible to use PageSpinner as the external editor.

I've tried approximating this feature with AppleScript to no avail.

I don't know about you folks, but I'm completely disgusted with Dreamweaver, that slow, bloated, overwrought mess that keeps trying to rewrite my code.

I use Transmit, haven't tried to use a different editor though. It kind of sucks that they hardcode it

I really like the quick-edit feature; you can make alterations to a file without all of the spinning-ball nonsense that makes Dreamweaver such a nuisance on my mere-mortal 450MHz G4 Power Mac.

If I'm reading this right, you can change the default external editor. I'm using SubEthaEdit as mine. Just go under the prefs. to change it.

Ah, you're right, it still defaults to the built-in one, even though it says you can change it.

Yeah, and PageSpinner isn't an option in any case. Drat, drat, drat.
Has anybody noticed that Transmit has no documentation, and that replies to e-mail are rarer than a solar eclipse?!?!
At least the interface is pretty.

Never mailed them, so I can't comment. I never needed a manual for it though, it's pretty self-explanatory imho

I use transmit pretty heavily. It's not the be-all-end-all of FTP clients, but it's very nicely built, and I've customized it to fit my workflow. And Panic does add features with each release.

My current feature request is to have mirroring directory navigation, so if I start out with two directories with the same name (eg: samplesite) and in one of the sides, I open up the images directory, on the other side the images directory would also open.

Also I'd like a way to open folders with the keyboard when they are highlighted.

But if you have Transmit questions, I'd be happy to help.

I emailed them about this limitation when I first got 2.5. They said that the editor has to be able to handle remote files, so it's not Transmit's fault. They also told me that SubEthaEdit (nee Hydra) would be supported in S.E.E.'s next release because that functionality would be added. And they were right (sort of, I can't save remotely). So it's a PageSpinner problem not a Transmit problem. :/

I own both Golive and Dreamweaver but recently switched to using BBEdit, Transmit, and CSSEdit(Great App). I do wish that Transmit allowed you select editors based on the file type. I want to use CSSEdit for my style sheets from Transmit. This would allow me to make changes to them while they are still on the server. Editing from within Transmit is nice for making quick changes to your HTML or CSS though.
