Any ideas?

I don't know how to do that. Hopefully someone else will chime in with the answer.

I only use a POP email account and I don't think I can do server side stuff like that. Perhaps it's different with IMAP servers.

If you are using an IMAP account, they should just appear.

But you said "webmail" which makes me suspect you're using hotmail or something similar with the httpmail plug-in.

If that's the case, I'm afraid I can't be of any help - I don't think there's a way to get your web folders into mail short of forwarding them etc.

just remember, that hotmail and it's kind are not supported types of accounts in Mail, you're using a third party plug-in to make the inbox portion work (for a long time you could only download, not send - that may still be the case for all I know)

If you are using IMAP then let us know - 'cause something ain't right.

In the IMAP case I have found that mail.app has a bit of a bug with certain MTA programs, namely Courier-MTA (if on the webmail login you see a message about "Double Precision, Inc" then you are using courier). There are two solutions to the issue, either you can make an alias for the folder INBOX in your maildir on the server (my guess is you don't have that access), or you can make a second dummy mail account on your client. The just turn that client off (no checking), it will cause you to have more than one inbox, and thus you will be able to see folders off of this.

OK, bit of a noob here, so excuse the fact that I don't have soo much knowledge about this.

I'm not trying to use hotmail with .mail, im trying to access the mail which comes with my webhosting account.

I have some webspace with a company called dot5hosting. With this package, I can have emails etc.. and can access them using a web page program called SquirrelMail.

So, I'm not sure if this is POP or IMAP?

ok.

well it's probably one or the other.

You say you've set up Mail to get your inbox for this account? How did you set up the account? As a POP account or as an IMAP account? (look in preferences).

If it's set up as a POP account, try setting it up as an IMAP account and see if you folders appear.

so, 2 things.

1. im stupid. I‘ve had the app. window maximised since the beginning, and actually never saw the mail 'tray' pop out!!!!! :-)

fixed that now!

2. i've recreated the account using imap. I can now see my folders.

however, i can now see ALL my website folders in the mail folder list. ie. the cgi, html, bash directories ect etc!!

how can i fix this? thanks.
