Quick Q

I want to make my mom and dad a nice holiday gift and transfer a home movie from my Hi8 sony camcorder to my 17in ALBook's iMovie for editing and then onto iDVD. Since my camcorder isn't digital and is Hi8, how do I go about transferring/importing it to my ALBook?

I'm assuming I'll need a specific adapter that witll either go from my firewire or USB to the chords into my camcorder, yes? Can someone please advise me on what to get (models) and where to find it? Thanks!

At my store, we sell the Pyro A/V Link. I haven't heard any complaints about it, but it is a little pricey.

You cold also look for a Dazzle Hollywood DV bridge on eBay. People tend to buy them form one or two projects then sell them on.

FWIW, I've never had any luck with the Dazzle...the video synchronization was always off and the sound conversion was just awful half the time. It was always VERY hit and miss...

my dazzle worked great for about 18 months, then the left audio channel went (mostly) dead...but I still fully recommend the product, 18 months is a long time (and I used it a lot), and the video still workd perfectly, and you can capture audio simultaneously in any number of ways...

Buy a new Sony digital8 cam corder. (edit: like the DCR-TRV250)

They're cheap now, and they convert the signal for you. It's time to go digital anyway, if you are using iMovie.
signatures are a waste of bandwidth
especially ones with political tripe in them.
