it seems that all my Adobe programs crash under Panther the minute I try to do something from the file menu, like open, or save. not only this, but microsoft word is having the same problems.
Any one else experience this?

I have pretty much the entire Adobe suite and Word and have not had any problems. I am on a 12" PB that came w/ Panther installed.

Photoshop CS seems to work fine here, as does Word. PowerPoint does rarely crash though. (iMovie OTOH, is another story.) Are you sure your Panther install (or software prefs, etc.) isn't fubar'd?

Im running on a G4 dual gig, and yeah, all my software is legit.
I would have tried to re-install them ontop of panther already, but I do not have my cds at the moment.

did you upgrade to Panther after installing the CS apps, using Archive & Install? if so, you might've missed some bits in the ~/Library

Do you happen to have ShapeShifter installed? Photoshop CS crashes a lot when I try to save something when I don't have Photoshop in the exclude list for ShapeShifter.

No problems with Photoshop CS, Illustrator CS and After Effects Pro 6 running on 10.3.1 (all legit).
