Hi there,

is there a way to take over all the needed information (read: mail) from an old non-burner-PC to a new iBook G4?

Is it possible with Mail.app or with Entourage? This decides which way to go....

I just went through a similar experience. I switched last Friday, to a 12" PB. I want to use as many of the built in Apple apps as possible so I am currently using Panther Mail. Works great, but it can't import PC Outlook Express mailboxes. I may end up trying out Entourage. I just have to decide if I really need that old email or if I'm content to refer to my PC whenever I need archived material.

if entourage can import the mail from PC OE, you might be able to import it into entourage and from there, import it into Mail.

I have no idea if that'll work, but it might be worth a shot.

Did the conversion a month ago from PC's Outlook Express to Entourage... I needed to save over 3000 messages including attachments and an address book that had over 200 contacts.

For the addresses, I just exported to comma delimited and imported them into Entourage.

For the emails, I used EmailAlchemy (http://www.weirdkid.com/). Well worth the price of admission, it transfered all my emails, preserving all the attachments and even my personal mail folders (about 25 of them). It costs $25 for single user use. There are other solutions out there as well, but this was the best I could find.
