Now that its been out awhile, what do those of you who use it think of it? Is it faster, slower, or does it depend on what your doing? I am interested in a few of the new features, but want to know how it stacks up otherwise. Are there any "little things" that make it better or worse?
Thanks,
Oliver

Well I don't use InDesign or GoLive so I won't comment on them.
My favorite PS was 4 and it gets 10/10. Version 7 was only a 6/10 compared to 4. Version 8 CS is a 8/10. Rather slow but everything works.
My favorite Illustrator was 6 and it is a 10/10 Version 10 was the first OS X version and wow did it suck. Unstable and buggy. 4/10 Plainly irritating to use. Illustrator 11 CS is a lot refined, faster and more stable. New features are neglegable IMO but it is good. 7/10.
Acrobat Distiller: 9/10 Simple and effective.

So are you saying Photoshop CS is slower than 7? That would be pretty crappy. Especially now that its OS X only. Is it still carbon, or did they go cocoa?
Thanks

Some of the new features like 16 bpp support and histogram palette might be useful if you are a pro. Other features like the filter gallery and the improved tutorials might be useful if you are a newbie.
But mostly, it's just more incremental improvements, nothing earth shattering. No realtime compositing engine with OpenGL yet.
It also still eats 100% of the CPU while you hold down the mouse button, which makes my laptop angry.

There's like 5 new things with it (PS CS) and it's a new full version?!?! Adobe and Macromedia have decide to simply flat out rob and steal from their customers. DW MX 2004 has what, 5 new changes and it's a full version upgrade?!?!?
I'll wait for some real changes before I fork over another $150-$199 each to upgrade.
I heard GoLive sucks ass (still-again-as always)

The addition of 16-bit layers alone makes it worth a whole version increase to some of us. But, if you're just playing with jpgs from your digital point and shoot, it's probably not a big deal.
What it comes down to is, if you don't need to new features, it's just not worth it. If you do need the new features, it's probably worth far more than the upgrade price.

The improvement that Adobe is touting the most is it's Version Cue project monitoring ssystem. It is effective, it helps to manage all of your projects and their resources between users and across a network, keeping track of multiple versions of a project, etc.
I'm also pretty impressed with Illustrator's new (rather, not so new) 3D effects (taken from that old, defucnt adobe app, Dimensions). I've managed to use it successfully on a couple of projects that required some light 3D work, instead of firing up Lightwave Modeler. And contrary to what KidRed says, GoLive doesn't suck. Not in the least. Well, compared to the previous version. But that's only my opinion.

If that was the article you(?) linked to in another thread, the guy tried to open 30,000 files.
