I'm happy using Mail.app for all of my e-mail communications. But since I use my laptop both at home and at work, I'm constantly forgetting to reset the Outgoing Mail Server before I click send. It's a petty annoyance to an otherwise satisfactory program. But I'd love it if it were possible to have Mail reset itself automatically? I mean, when I'm at work I'm on connected via Ethernet. When I'm at home, the AirPort card is active. It would be nice if my PowerBook or OS X or something would notice where I am and reset the preferences accordingly. I used to use Location Manager in OS 9 to do this very thing. Anyone have any elegant OS X solutions?

Should be doable depending on who gives your machine DNS answers. The use of an alias , configure for host B by the DNS given on your Airport and A when connected to your ethernet, should do the trick.

Much of Location Manager was built into the Network System Preference pane in OSX. I don't know if this will take email settings into account, but it may be worth looking into.
