my friend posted a video at http://hotgirlsclub.neptune.com/

(i think she said it's just basically a slide show of pictures that we took at a party this past weekend)

it's in wmv format. i have the latest wmp 9 installed on panther, but it gives me an error that it is unable to load the file (using safari... IE also does not work). i see the plugin controls load, but the video is not there. i even extracted the direct url of the video from the source and put that into the wmp 9 standalone app, but that also gives an error.

(i'd give you the direct link, but i'm at work and that site is banned by our proxy server so i can't look at it now. it's fairly obvious in the source for the video frame and begins with something like http://www.neptune.com/users/hotgirl.../200312....wmv )

mplayer and vlc also don't work.

can anyone get it to play? if so, how? all my friends are laughing because i can't get it to work on my mac!!!

help, thanks!

I'm not touching that link at work. I need my job. Maybe later.

Well I don't have a job, so I tried it first in my default browser iCab, didn't work. Thought "Ok, Safari will handle it", but that didn't work either. Started up VPC, put the link in but THAT didn't work either! It said that the stream type was unrecognised and that I should check the file path. I'd suggest your friend would use a more compatible way of sharing videos than this Neptune-site, like floppy disks...

It seems that the path of the file is all screwed up....it doesn't seem to be a codec problem, it seems to be the file just isn't there problem.

Nope, it works every time from a Windows box.

Oh well.
