This is a great forum. I have had the a problem with PE 2 after I upgraded from Jag to Panther. PE would crash on start up. Had to rebuild Pref file each time for it to load. Ofcourse that would reset all pref's to defult. Found a work around. With PE open go to the window menu, hit "Hints", with Hints window open, click the "More" tab. The "Close Palettte to Palette well" should be checked. UNCHECK it. Quit PE, Log out then log in. That fixed the start up crash for me.You will not have the hints tab in your palette menu but you can still get your hints in the main menu. Thats better then having the program crash on you everytime you start it.
Hope this helps others having this problem.
