I am trying to setup my Mail app. to work with my new .Mac account but it is not an option to choose. I only have POP, IMAP, and Exchange. Where is .Mac? I have no accounts setup with Mail yet and I can't use the tool bar option to set up an account because a pop up window appears "Welcome to Mail" and the drop down list does not have .Mac as a choice.

try filling in your .Mac info in the .Mac System Preferences.

.mac mail uses IMAP, so you could just choose that.

Though as cpac says, if you have your info already set in System Prefs, Mail should fill it all in for you when it starts up.

It worked. I didn't realize .Mac was an option in system preferences. Thank you. Now I can get on with my life!
