Getting PDF files from Panther to Tungsten T3

I'm trying to send PDF files from my Mac (running Panther) to a Tungsten T3. I downloaded and installed the latest Adobe Reader for Palm OS on my Mac and on the T3. I can launch Adobe Acrobat on the T3 and I can launch Adobe Reader for Palm on Panther, but I can't get PDF files to transfer across. The Adobe software doesn't seem to recognise when a sync operation is in progress.

Anyone any suggestions?
