I own Acrobat 5, and need to install it on an OS X machine. The installer runs in classic mode, and the machine I need to install it on does not have clasic installed on it. I cannot find a native installer on Adobe's site, but I know that if I apply the 5.05 patch to the application once it is installed, the program will run natively.

Does anyone know how I can get Acrobat installed without classic, short of buying a new version?

Thanks in advance,

-M

i really think you need classic on your machine to run the full version of acrobat 5. a vital part of the full version of acrobat is a sort of helper app called distiller, which works to create the pdf files (whereas acrobat itself manipulates the pdf files); the distiller that comes with acrobat 5 only runs in classic. you can run acrobat 5.05 natively in osX but you need to be in classic mode to use the distiller (you don't need to be booted into os9).

so even if you somehow got acrobat 5.05 onto your osX only machine (say by transfering all the needed files from another machine), your ability to use it would be severely limited... without classic installed and running or without acrobat 6 (which has a distiller than runs natively in osX, no need for classic there).

hope this helps.
