in iTunes for mac, has anyone else noticed that you can't completely maximize the window? if you try to have the left side of the window bumped up against the edge of the screen, and stretch it out so the right side is also at its edge... you can't do it! it stops about 30px shy of the right edge.

WTF? i thought they would fix this by now. it happens on both my 12" ibook and 15" powerbook.

and what's with the 20px or so of grey area to the right of the scroll bar? even if i could maximise the window, i couldn't make it so the scrollbar was at the right edge of the screen (like i can do in safari). this is useful if you just want to "flick" your cursor to the right side and access the scroll area without having to specifically target it.

is there a rational explanation? seems like wasted screen space to me, especially considering that iTunes has so many horizontal fields to display (track, artist, album, date, format, rating, etc).

Is this what you're talking about?.

I'm chill with that amount of space. I do agree with you on that they should thin out some of the dividers they use in iTunes. If they're not going to give you the option of a full screen app like in windows they should be frugal with their UI designs. And since we just had an update today, it doesn't look like they'll be changing these little annoyances any time soon.

yeah. i suspect it's consistent, but at smaller resolutions the gap looks larger. on the 15" powerbook it looks about twice as big as your image... what resolution are you using?

Is there a reason you need your iTunes window that big? Or do you just like to find things to complain about?

Thanks for the definitive analysis.

Anyways, If you press the option button down while pushing the green button, it will (sorta) maximize the window.

is there any reason you seem to think that because someone uses their computer differently than you, then they must be looking for something to complain about?

i'd like to not have that stupid gap there 1) because it's inconsistent 2) because i'd be able to show more info if i could truly maximize the window (even if it's a single character, it'd be worth it) and 3) it looks stupid to have itunes "almost" maximized on the screen.
