I am in a back and forth email discussion with the developers of MissingSync concerning the ability to use more than one PocketPC.
I have more gadgets than I would care to count off, and when I purchased MissingSync my device a la jour was my e740. The software ran as expected, no flaws. Until I decided to install an application onto my iPaq (which I don't use for data sync, just wireless content browsing) and noticed that my license for MissingSync doesn't allow the use of my iPaq, just the e740.
I tried inputting my serial numerous times only to realize it is only built for one device. So I scoured their site and NO WHERE does it mention this policy. Well, the developer even reiterates this:
"We do not feel we have misrperesented the situation. It doesn't say the application is licnesed on a per-device basis. However, neither does it say it is licensed for multiple devices. That is why we encourage users to ask pre-sales questions. "
Where do we draw the line for customer service? They won't issue a refund or issue a second license. How was I supposed to know at the time of purchase that this is one of requirements for seeking a software package? MS ActiveSync allows up to 15 devices. PalmSync definitely allows more than one device.
In the past when you purchased software that eventually didn't meet your needs have you ever felt like you have no ability to reason with the developer? Am I really in the wrong because I wasn't expecting to sync two devices when I purchased it? It was never specifically stated in the license agreement or on the website.
