iVisit 3.0.4 is out today. Just downloaded and found that the iSight mic now works with iVisit for telechatting with your PC friends or macowners without a .mac acoount (iChat).

Not sure whether this new function is from the updated iVisit or whether it has something to do with the new Quicktime 6.5 and the new Quicktime framework. Anyway, it now works. No need for the USB mic anymore.

You don't need to pay for .Mac to have a permanent .Mac account ID you can use in iChat you know.... just FYI.

I did not know that. How can I i.e. set up an account for my girlfriend which would allow me to reach her in iChat? Please let me know. A free solution would be just fantastic, since I am not keen on splashing out for .mac just to chat with her. She would never use any of the other features in .mac anyway.

Please let me know.

Setting up an AIM account is easier. Go to www.aim.com to register.

Just go to http://www.mac.com/ and get a free trial account. The iChat feature will continue to work after the 60 days trial expired.
Or get an AIM account.
Nasrudin sat on a river bank when someone shouted to him from the opposite side: "Hey! how do I get across?" "You are across!" Nasrudin shouted back.

Thank you all. I opened up an AIM account for her. Works great! You just saved me a .mac membership that would never be used.
