Hi. I am using vpc 5.04 and os 10.2.8. (vpc os is xp pro.) when i start up vpc I can't connect to the internet under vpc (with my normal mac connection everything is fine).

i have a wireless connection (airport) and I can't get xp pro to recognize it. under settings, i have networking set to "shared networking with sockets".

any ideas?

oh, yeah, i have a dual boot emac and under os 9, vpc and the networking work beautifully.

Hi there, I had the same problem for a long time and found a good article somewhere along the way that included the tips below. My airport is dialup, OS 10.3.2, VPC 6.1. The biggest tip I learned was to be already connected (dialed up) before launching VPC.

Mac system prefs: Network
nothing different than normal dialup
Airport settings:
Internet: use your usual settings including DNS
Network: Check "Distribute IP addresses" and "Share a single IP address (using DHCP and NAT)"

On VPC Win XP network settings:
Create a new network connection using the New Connection Wizard - each item here is one of the screen choices:
1. Choose Connect to the Internet option
2. Set up my Connection manually
3. Connect using a broadband connection that it always on (use this even if your airport connects via dialup - really)
4. Finish

I may have disabled the existing VPC LAN connection (ctrl-click and then disable) before setting up a new network connection. You may need to restart VPC (can't remember) and just remember to already be connected to the Internet via airport before booting up VPC. Good luck.
