I'm am trying to transfer my address book (mac application for mail) from my G4 to my G3 so that I can have my G4 repaired. What's the best way to do it. Can I save my address book (which is an application) on to my External Drive and then carry it over? I just want to have my full address book for my email while my G4 is in the shop.

That will save your address book to a file. Then, on the other computer, just revert to that backup file after carrying it over on your external drive.
