Good morning,

I have three questions about QuickTime Pro (Windows) that I'm trying to get answers to.

1.) I have a video AVI file that my digital camera (S400) recorded.
I would like to convert this to a QuickTime file format so I
can e-mail it to friends/relatives using Windows & Mac. I
think that the QuickTime format would do this best.

I see that QT Pro imports AVI and exports MOV. Am I right
to assume that if I purchased QT Pro, opened the AVI and
then exported it to QuickTime that would work? Sound and all?

2.) If I purchase the current release of QT Pro, 6.5, so I have to
buy a new QT Pro license when 7.0 is released?

3.) If I purchased QT Pro for Windows, if I buy a Mac in the future
do I need to purchase QT Pro again or will my serial number
for the Windows version work ok?

1) Don't be so quick in buying QT Pro if you don't need it. There are several tools (shareware or free) that does what QT Pro does. An AVI file that doesn't open in the standard Quicktime Player won't open in QT Pro either, despite what it says about "converting". Check to see if it plays first.

2) Maybe, depending on how close to the release of the next version you purchase it.

3) The Windows and Mac codes are different, so you'd need to get separate QT Pro licences.

The only advantage I can see by buying quicktime pro is that you get to save internet media while using the QT, and you get to have the fullscreen mode. I am almost postive that there is some freewere softwear that does this and more.
