how to add non standard icons to the Mail Toolbar?...

...in the way that 'random' icons/alias' can be added to the Finder Window Toolbars?

For example, if I created an action/appplescript/alias to send an eMail to a person and wanted to add that to the Toolbar so that it would function as a 'button' in the same way that "Reply" "Reply All" "Forward" etc etc function.

Is there a way to do this, a hack, an edit, whatever?

The best work around is probably to make use of the scripts menu.

Yeah, use the scripts menu, I'm not sure you can (easily, at least) add anything to the toolbar that isn't already available.
