Hi all,

Well looks like I had my usual "great" timing and recently (Dec 23rd) bought a copy of FCE (with a new version about to be released any day now).

I've only been a Mac user for a month so I don't know what Apple's usual policy is with regards to the price of software upgrades when the prior version was purchased so recently.

Can anyone fill me in?

Thanks!

JT

Their may be an upgrade price, but that's your only chance at getting a reduced price I'm afraid...

Many times Apple will give you a $19.95 upgrade if you purchase within 30 days of a new release, but I've only seen that with OS upgrades, not regular software. I'm afraid the upgrade price may be your only option.

For future reference. Never buy anything from mid November through end of January or from mid April through June. Apple typically updates hardware and software at their major trade shows during those times. Also, check the rumor sites every so often, they're not always accurate, but sometimes they give you a heads-up.

That's basically what I figured. As long as I can get the upgrade price I don't have a problem with that. Besides we needed for a project at work and it worked out just fine.

At least this way I know I have a program that does the job and if the upgrade doesn't add anything spectacular I can just sit tight. We all know how much "fun" it can be to upgrade a working program with the newest version right when it comes out .

Thanks,

JT
