when we installed osx2.8, quicktime 6.3 was installed. we never upgraded to 6.4. Our question is do we need to upgrade to 6.4 before upgrading to 6.5? and will it effect anything in final cut pro by upgrading the quicktime? the bottom line is that we're trying to get quicktime pro to work.

quicktime pro doesn't work? what do you mean?

FCP usually only officially supports the previous QT version, as I understand it. You should probably contact Apple for tech support if it's not clear from the FCP website, before upgrading QT
