Hi all of a sudden I cannot get an internet connection in Virtual PC 6.1, I have tried all the support suggestions, searched this forum and tried the Sockets thing, didn't work.

I even tried installing a fresh win2k and still nothing, before this worked no problem.

Now no matter what I do I cannot get it to work.

I am not using Airport either.

I have the same problem. It worked until I upgrade to Panther and then to VPC 6 because VPC 5 is incompatible. I rebooted to 9.2.2 and VPC 5 connects to the internet perfectly with the same disk image of Win2K under Shared Networking.

Actually, *none* of my clients can find the internet in VPC 6 on Panther not just W2K.

I'm still investigating as this is incredibly frustrating.

As an aside, I discovered there's some Unsanity APE incompatibility with VPC 6 which caused an inability to close an emulated PC without saving that session first. I don't know which but I've added it to "Exclude" from all the APE's I have installed.

Update: VPC 6 works fine with Shared Networking and any of my hosted clients including W2K when run under 9.2.2.

There's obviously something wrong with my Panther VPC install. I'll see if reinstalling fixes the problem.

Grrr.

Another update... I found my problem:

I checked "Little Snitch" and discovered it hadn't given net access permission to VPC6 when I upgraded and it never prompted me either. It was still pointing at my old install of VPC5. This is the first time this has happened since I began using "Little Snitch" and assume it has something unique to do with VPC 6.

If you are using "Little Snitch" or some other utility to control net access on a per-application basis, check the settings.

For me: Case closed.
