Riddle me this - how on Earth do you configure a Keynote presentation to self-play?
It seems the only way to do this is to export it as a QuickTime movie - which then presents you with options for displaying each slide for x seconds and to auto-repeat. BUT, what you end up with is a full-screen movie that has crappy transitions compared to the insanely gorgeous and silky smooth Quartz transitions done by Keynote... let alone the ironic concept of having to use something other than Keynote to play your Keynote presentation.
Am I missing something here? HELP!

The reason you get crappy transitions is because you used the default Quicktime export settings. I just tried it and got the same thing.
But upon export, if you select Custom, you can alter the settings to get the quality you want. For example, I changed the movie to 1024 x 768 (full screen for my Powerbook) and upped the frame rate to 30. The resulting movie was beautiful.

I bet this could be done really easily in Applescript. Mebbe I'll have a go at writing something later.

What the nerd community most often fail to realize is that all features aren't equal. A well implemented and well integrated feature in a convenient interface is worth way more than the same feature implemented crappy, or accessed through a annoying interface.

There is a script out there (well, it's an add-on for Assistive Devices, so it's a two-program install) - called Keypress. As of the last time i tried it, you could only set a single timing rate for it though -so it was 10 seconds per slide all the way through, etc.
If that's what you're looking to do, you can find a bit more info on it and a download link at Brian's site:

Beyond that, we're all hoping this is something that will be included in the next major rev of Keynote - my understanding is that it's one of the biggest requests they've received.
