I am running VPC 6.0.1 on OS X 10.3.2 (10.2.8) and my dynamically resizing driveimage is working great, albeit only in one direction: Increasing its size. It has reached 9 gig now and this is becomeing a nuissance, more so as I only use 1 gig of it.

I tried all the things I could find to decrease the size, i.e. free up disk space (attempted several times) with the function built into VPC after defragmenting the VPC drive and converting the empty space to zeroes with some utilities; I tried changing the drive to fixed size and then converting it back in hope that this might reset the size to what is needed.

Any other solutions or observations of that problem with your VPC as well? or do I have to create a new diskimage, preferably with fixed size this time and reinstall all the windowsy things again??

That's how dynamical drive work according to what I know. That's why I rarely use them and when I do I'm careful to never to fill them up.

If I were you I'd create a new HD image and copy over the data from the old to the new (you can mount them in the Finder from the PC settings). If you have the 'automatic' set-up your main drive image will be in a package in Home/Documents/Virtual PC List. Control-click on the package to show the contents.

Thanks! That's what I would have done anyway (but I did not know about the mounting in the finder, so thank you again!), since having 8 gigs sitting around unused on my 40gig iBook drive gave me some headache.
What surprised me was that the reclaim free disk space function didn't do a thing to help me. I read elsewhere on the net about similar problems, so I knew I was not alone, but I hoped someone who encountered the some problem found a solution or some tweak to make the drive shrink...
