Mail not working after waking from sleep

	I have an iBook 900, running 10.3.2 and whenever i wake my iBook from sleep mail refuses to check my mail accounts, the only way to close mail is via force quit and if i try to open mail again it crashes after one bounce in the dock. This then forces me to restart the iBook which is a pain typing in the spanning hack all the time. Has anyone else experianced this with mail or have any idea what i can do to fix the problem?
