yeah so I tried installing the norton trial version just to run a virus scan and after that I tried to uninstall using the installer because it had an uinstall option. However everything goes smoothly until the end where a window pops up and says:

ERROR_UNKNOWNERROR_UNKNOWNERROR_UNKNOWNERROR_UNKNO WNERROR_UNKNOWNERROR_UNKNOWNERROR_UNKNOWNERROR_UNK NOWNERROR_UNKNOWNERROR_UNKNOWN ERROR_UNKNOWN ERROR_UNKNOWN ERROR_UNKNOWN ERROR_UNKNOWN

grr, and then it just restarts like it actually uninstalled but when ibook g4 (running panther) starts up again, the norton antivirus thing is still there and nothing changed. Is there any other way to uninstall?

Hell, I'd never run a release-version of a Norton product, let alone a beta or trial version.

Do a search (cmd-F from the Finder) and look for anything with the word Norton or NAV in the name. Trash it, reboot, then empty trash.

i recommend norton, it is extremely user friendly. However I just found out my problem, it seems that the uninstaller is not compatible with the new "panther" so they had a seperate uninstaller here

thanks for the help anyways, this works for people who bought the real thing too. I am only uninstalling because I just don't like trial versions of anything.

TechTool Pro 4 and Diskwarrior over Norton Anyday of the Year. I've had too many bad things happen with Norton. TTP4 and Diskwarrior have saved my Ass more than times than I can count
