i've searched both here and macosxhints.com for an answer to this and so far i can't find one.

i want to be able to insert an audio cd and have _no_ applications start up automatically. just recognize the disc, and let me take it from there.

in itunes i can say 'on cd insert: show songs', but every other option is more busy, none are 'ignore'.

i have tried adding:

<key>autoplayDVD</key>
<false/>
<key>autoplayaudiocd</key>
<false/>

to my com.apple.finder.plist but this isn't helping.

there has to be a way to assign an application to an event like inserting an audio cd, or at least a way to tell the os to do nothing. can anyone help?

thanks in advance.

System Preferences->CDs & DVDs->When you insert a music CD: [Ignore]
Nasrudin sat on a river bank when someone shouted to him from the opposite side: "Hey! how do I get across?" "You are across!" Nasrudin shouted back.

Try this: Go to System Preferences > CDs and DVDs. For the category "When you insert a music CD:", pick "Open other application" from the drop-down menu, and designate the Finder.

Open System Preferences go to CDs & DVDs, under "When you insert a music CD:" select ignore.
