I have my itunes 4.2 configured to output AAC files with 192kbps encoding.
when I export tracks in garage band, they only seem to convert over to aiff and takes too much space. How do i set this to use aac or mp3? I even looked through the preferences panel within garage band and couldnt find anything halp!

You can't. Once you export from Garageband you then convert to AAC in iTunes. I believe Garageband exports to AAC because that is the best quality.

if you iTunes is set to convert to AAC, just choose your song, then click advanced then convert selection to AAC once that is done you can delete or backup you AIL file to a CD or DVD.

Just guessing here CC, but you'd probably be better off saving the GB files natively and exporting out of iTunes (after exporting from GB to to iTunes?).
