Not sure if this is the right forum, but:

I'm not saying it will happen but anything is possible...

What if some garageband user out there creates the next hit record, out of loops from garageband - or even loops mixed with their own stuff?

What are the legal implications - does Apple 'own' the music? Are people forbidden from making money off tracks they have created from garageband?

I don't own garageband yet, so I don't know if there are any legal notices like this when you install.

Not like I am planning to create a hit record or anything (heh) but I thought it might be an interesting question - considering that some of the stuff I have heard so far has been rough but impressive - it's only a matter of time before some people stop just 'playing around' with the software and start on an actual project, and I'm sure when that time comes there will be some pretty decent stuff out there.

From Apple's GarageBand site:

These professionally-recorded Apple Loops are all royalty-free interludes, played in a variety of moods and genres, on many different instruments.

So, unless you start using loops or samples that weren't included with GB you are fine.
