I just bought a new iBook and am curious if the email address given to me is a part of the .mac trial account and limited to the 60 days?

Thanks!

yes. the .mac trial account includes the .mac email account and will expire (unless you purchase) after the 60 days.

I am also in the trial period for .mac with the mail program that came with my new ibook
and when I go into "Mail" then "preferences" I get the accounts window instead of the other dialouge boxes so I can't set up rules, filters, signatures, etc. Is this the trial version and when you buy, then you get to set up the way you like?

Also is the .mac for $99/yr really any big deal? I've been a loyal earthlink user (6 years) and don't really want another email address.

Appreciate your responses in advance,

ClaraT

no offense if you have tried it, but have you tried clicking on any of the other things up at the top of the preferences window? (General, Junk Mail, Rules, etc.)

This is how you access the other preferences.

I've never seen any of those options greyed out for any reason, but if for some reason they are greyed out with your .Mac trial account, all you need to do is set up your Earthlink account in Mail, and you should be able to set up everything just fine.
