I have to force quit Photoshop CS a lot on my dual G5/2GHz with 2.5GB of Crucial ram.
Especially, if I leave the computer on and it goes to sleep with the app open.
Anyone else having this issue?
It works fine at first, then bags.

I usually run Photoshop all day in and out of sleep on these two machines with no problems with 8.0 so far:
iBook G3 800 - 640mb
PBG4 DVI 800 - 768mb
Both computers have been using Photoshop CS heavily since it has been released.
good luck

Have you tried it w/o the RAM installed? How much did it come with?

Came with 512MB.
I added 4 512MB of Crucial RAM.
Hardware test was fine.
Some other apps crash sometimes as well. Firebird in particular.
Bad ram, poorly written apps, bad fonts.
How much app crashing is allowable?
I do push my computer harder than the average joe.

Never trust a software-based hardware test. They are never 100% correct.
But it sounds like either a bad prefs file or bad RAM.
FIX #1: Delete your prefs file and see if that fixes it.
FIX #2: Reinstall Photoshop
FIX# 3: Check your RAM
Here's what you should do. Open your Mac up and remove all but one of your sticks of RAM.
Then boot up regularly and see if Photoshop will still crash. Then repeat this test (removing one stick and replacing it with another). If you come across a bad stick of RAM. You will be crashing a lot. Then you will know that that stick of RAM is no good.
This is all I can think of. Hope it helps.
Mike
P.S. Pushing your computer to its limits shouldn't make it crash. Just maybe slow down.

Actually, don't forget that the G5s require RAM modules to be installed in pairs.

Oh darn, I totally forgot about that.
Sorry. I don't have a G5. Maybe next year.
