Hi,
Whenever I assign a signature to an account and then reply to an email or open an email, Entourage puts the signature after the text the person wrote. This looks stupid ! Here is what I mean...

Hi Niall,

MY SIGNATURE GOES HERE

What annoys me is that my signature should be after my reply not after his text ! anyone know why this is or offer some help ? Thanks in advance.

Under the file menu, choose the 'Mail and News preferences' options. Under 'Reply & Forward' choose the 'Prefix my replies with Internet-style attributes'. If you check the 'Place insertion point before quoted text' your signature should appear above the text you're replying to.

No, it doesn't. The insertion point does appear before quoted text, but the sig still goes at the bottom of the entire message. The only way to get the sig before the quoted text is to use the short header-style attribution. This has annoyed me ever since I started using Entourage.
I do not like those green links and spam.
I do not like them, Sam I am.

I have tried swithcing around prefrences too and nothing. It still inserts itself on the bottom of the message. But thats not all, it adds reply marks ">", two of them to the bottom of the signature.

How can MS release software like this ?
I suspect MS views this as a feature because it follows the common convention and informal netiquette standards that are more than a decade old. Historically the signature has always been appended to the bottom of the message regardless of the location of the reply. This very forum (MacNN) follows the exact same convention, signatures are always at the bottom.

Programs which do the opposite (notably MS Outlook) are considered broken by many folks. For a sampling of the discussion try a Google for "toppost FAQ".

NECESSARY DISCLAIMER: I mention this for informational purposes only... While I have my own opinions regarding reply/signature location, I'm not trying to tell you that your personal preferences on the matter are wrong or right. I'm just explaining what I think MS is trying to do. I have no interest in starting a flamewar on the merits of topposting.
