Allo!
After a few years of work, we're finally dumping our feature onto DVCAM for VHS duplication (yay!).
It's about 2 hours and 15 minutes long, and I've dumped it down twice now.
Both versions have a single "MicroFart", each in different places. In one, the audio drops out for a frame or two, in the other, it double-printed a frame. These "MicroFarts" aren't in the source material. FCP didn't give a warning that it had dropped frames on either dump.
This is immensely irritating, if for no other reason than every dump now needs to be carefully scrutinized, literally frame by frame. My eyes water at the thought.
The Setup:
FCP 3.0.2
1GHZ Dual G4
1.5GB RAM
Sony DSR-20 DVCAM deck
AppleTalk is OFF
The source is a single 28 GB file, so FCP doesn't need to do any extra processing, The file is the only occupant of a 50GB SCSI-3 RAID. This is serious overkill for what amounts to a glorified file transfer, so I have to assume it isn't a disk issue.
Any feedback would be appreciated.
