So I have two Macs, two users and two different iTMS accounts both enabled on both macs. If I buy a song through iTMS to computer A, and both computer A and B are enabled to play that song, why can't computer B just copy that song via the sharing into its local iTunes directory?

Is this just a missing feature or am I missing some big legal restriction?

legal.

Just turn on file sharing, and copy the tracks into the other mac's public folder.

I am not sure why it is legal. I have the rights to play and or copy it onto up to three "authorized" computers. Both computers are authorized.

In fact, you need to authorize just to play those iTMS bought songs, so iTunes knows that the client machine is authorized for access to those tracks.

I think it would just be a nice feature and allow me to easily transfer the songs I am authorized to do so.

Problem with public folders, is that it does not let user A look and user Bs files and share them, they have to wait for user B to move them over.

i think he meant that it is legal to do so but not a feature of iTunes.

the "sharing" feature in iTunes right now can not share music bought from the store, OR ripped songs, you can only stream, but you can not copy over, BUT it is certainly not ILLEGAL to copy the songs to another computer!

I frequently do what you are asking via iChat and Rendezous just sign both computers on (i don't even think you need to have an AIM/.Mac account name) and send that way, simple as cake, or you can do like they said and share it in the folder OR you can connect to the other machine via NETWORK and get it that way
