Hi -- this may be a dumb question, but I need to erase my CMS hard drive so I can install the new BounceBack software to use it for backing up. OK, I know I can just use CCC, but one of the reasons I got this drive 18 months ago was because it's such a snap to use for backups. So, despite the initial headache of erasing the drive, I've decided that's what I'll do.

My question -- there are always so many problems with permissions, when simply copying a drive. Can I use CCC to make a clone of the CMS drive to a SECOND external HD?

thanks.

To ccc one disk (disk1) to another (disk2), to avoid permission problems, I always use a 3rd machine to do the transfer.

Sooo, I connect via firewire the 2 drives (disk1 & disk2) to my "middleman" machine, select disk1 as my source, and disk2 as my target, and ccc away.

No problems. Gotta be one of the best pieces of software out there for admins...

Hope that helps.

I use Panther's Disk Image. Worked fine for me several times.

Hey, I never thought of that. That, too is a good solution (though I've already done the CCC option). But it's good to know about the Disk Image way as well.

Thanks for the tip.
