I have some pictures that I dropped into an IChat conversation, and I don't have the originals. So I need to extract those pictures (jpegs) from this IChat file. Just dragging it out of the file doesn't do anything. IChat logs do not open in TextEdit or Word, they only open in IChat.
Any help would be appreciated

Presumably you have thought of capturing the screen with command-shift-3 (or 4, depending on what you wanted to do)?

First off. You should be able to open iChats with TextEdit simply by dragging the saved chat over the icon of TextEdit or right-clicking (cntrl-click if you have a 1 button mouse), choosing "Open with", select "other" and browse to the program you want to use.
However, I'm not sure exactly why you need to do that. I just opened an old iChat with inline jpgs ... was able to drag the images out of the iChat without problem.

Thanks, when I try to open an IChat log file with TextEdit - it says that there were errors and won't open.
Now, when I try to drag a picture out of that IChat log file while it's open, I see the blank white page icon appearing next to the mouse pointe as well as a green ball with the plus sign in it. That is good as it's an indication that the item is draggable. However, when I try to put it anywhere - it won't stay there. It seemly refuses to appear in any of the locations I try to drag it into.
Any more tricks?
I did try to capture screen when the picture was open in IChat. Now it's a pdf file. Do I need to use Photoshop to crop just that part with the picture?
