Hi!

I was wondering if anyone knows if there's a way to group calendars in iCal. I don't think there is, but I was hoping I missed it. Pretty much the only reason I would want this (aside from organization) is for publishing the calendar. I have several calendars for different types of events that comprise my day (many of which my family or friends would like to know about), but the only way to publish them is one at a time. This works, but is annoyingly spammy for the people subscribing--having to have separate calendars like: Joel Work, Joel School, Joel Study, etc., that each take up a color, etc. What would be great is to be able to arrange them like playlists in iTunes. Just create a group, drag the calendars you want to publish into that group and publish the group. Then you could optionally password the group if you wanted. *sigh* If only it were so...

Good idea. Tell Apple. They listen.

This is kind of a bump because I think this is a great idea and I encorage others to submit feedback to Apple. Here's what I sent them a moment ago:
All but one of the people I regularly work with at work use Macs, but we don't have any good calendaring system. I can post an iCal calendar, but I'm the only one that can update. I would like for multiple people to be able to update a calendar for the group. Example, an out-of-office calendar: I can enter when I'm going to be on vacation, as can other people. Otherwise we need everyone individually to have all of these calendars and for the PC user to view all of these on the web individually, it would be difficult. Thanks!

Great idea. I've just spent an hour and a half trying to figure out how to publish a iCal calendar on the net that contains multiple colored groups.

Anybody out there no how to do it?

It'd be great if you could please help.

Oddly I was just starting a project to modify php-iCallender, and one of my goals was to allow meta-calenders (to sum up all the events on a group of calenders). Not something that currently exists, and not something that is going to happen soon.

Ahhhh, bummer. Not your goal of course, but the fact that "meta-calenders" don't already exist. All the best with your project.

Don't you think its strange that we can see all the groups on our calendars but we can't publish them as we see them? I mean if we can see them how hard is it to show them all on the net? I wonder why we can only show one lousy group . . .

It'd be great to show lots of colors, i.e. multiple groups on one calendar so the clients could see my schedule as I see it . . .

I think I do basically this with SpyMac iCal hosting: http://schalliol.spymac.net/ical/month.php The colors aren't there, but it does show them all together.
