Is there a Mac friendly piece of scanning software? Something like Scansoft's Paperport Deluxe?
Thanks!

if you don't yet have a scanner I would buy a scanner that is compatible with Apple's Image Capture... the best scann program imho.
Image Capture ships right with the OS, you can even share your scanner over the network with 10.3 powered by rendezvous.

Thanks for the fast replies! I should have included more detail with my original post though.
I want to use something like a Visioneer Strobe scanner to scan documents and save my paperwork digitally. So I'm looking more for something that will scan and organize documents.

I, too, am looking for good scanning software, for OSX. Vuescan does seem to be a common recommendation, I'm considering it, haven't used it yet, but I understand you can try it first before you buy it. Their website lists all the compatible scanners, and the developer is willing to talk one-on-one online on a forum with people who use it and have questions on it. Sorry I don't have that site link on me.
I can give you this link, which I am also considering. The package is called ReadIris:
http://www.irislink.com/opt/uk/produ...mac/index.html
It's pretty thorough as far as OCR document scanning, really rivals Omnipage X and probably Visioneer as well, and I think it's cheapER Omnipage X, but not cheap. The only real catch is you have to have it's version 7 for OSX in order to get it's latest version 9, which is only an upgrade. $$$.

Sharky,
thanks for the image capture recommendation. I have a Brother all in one machine (MFC-3820CN) which I love, but the scanning software sucks. I just plugged itin, opened up IC & it works perfectly.

If you're looking for a high-volume scanning solution, check out dominion software's Working Papers Pro ( www.dominionsw.com) There's a free demo of the software posted there. I used to use this software & Loved it. I no longer need the functionality it offers so I haven't tried the OS X version (I used it under OS 9) but if it's still half as good as it was, you'll be happy with it.
