Before the Safari 1.2 update, I had tabs enabled but only shown when I had more than one tab going in a given Safari window. I could use the menu or hit CMD+T to get a new tab whenever I wanted.

Now, CMD+T or the menu option don't seem to work. Instead, I get a blank window instead of an extra tab. But, it does seem to work correctly if the first page is loading at the time I hit CMD+T.

And I don't have the problem at all if I have the option to always show the tab bar selected.

Is this supposed to be correct? If not, how do I correct it?

Thanks,
Jason

On my system it pops down the tab bar and selects a blank tab when I hit command-T under Safari 1.2 if I don't have it showing all the time.

Right. That's what I assumed is supposed to happen, since previous versions of Safari do this. But my real question is: how do I fix it so it works properly?

I even reinstalled Safari and that hasn't helped.
