I'm sure there is an automated way to rip a CD and create a playlist of the same name, isn't there? Or at least select an album in my Library and create a playlist for it?

I've looked at Apple's iTunes Scripts and Doug's and there are some interesting scripts out there, but no simple way to do this. What am I missing?

Just click the big "Browse" (psychedelic eye) button in your library and sort by album. No step 3.
Nasrudin sat on a river bank when someone shouted to him from the opposite side: "Hey! how do I get across?" "You are across!" Nasrudin shouted back.

Step 1: In iTunes go to View -> Show Browser )if you're not already in Browser mode)
Step 2: Drag the album you want into the Source List (where the Library and Playlists are)
Step 3: There is no step 3.

Yes ... use browser mode, or drag the album from the browser view to the playlists, or select the tracks of that album in the main list (sort by album if that helps) and drag them to an empty area of the source list (or its title), it will create a playlist with the album name for you.
Or get Apple's "Make Playlist By Artist" script, open it with the script editor, replace the word "artist" with "album" in the whole file and save it as "Make Playlist By Album".

See..I knew there had to be a simple way. Thanks guys. And good tip on the script editor, Moonray. Gotta wonder why the 'Playlist by Album' script isn't included. Is this an attempt to cut down on album reproduction?

If it's all from one album couldn't you jsut create a smart playlist for it?

Well, iTunes already does that when you use the browse mode.

But I like to have playlists of my newest music for easy access on my iPod (i.e. I don't have to browse by artist, remember their name, and scroll through tons of entries). So I create a playlist for every new album I import, then I delete it after a few weeks when I've had a good chance to listen to it.

In that case, why not create a smart playlist called, I don't know, "Recent Additions" with music added within the last two weeks or so?…

Yes, I already have one of those "Recent additions" playlists. My way allows more flexibility. How do you play one album from that playlist in random order? How do you delete a specific album from that playlist? How do you import something without it being added to that playlist?

Answer: you don't.

Why not just browse by Album on your iPod?

Fair enough. But you didn't specify all that in your last post

Because my memory isn't good enough to remember the names of 2 albums I imported two weeks ago at 2 in the morning and pick them out of a list of 100+.
