Before I bought GarageBand I was using Digital Performer, and with a program like this there is usually some wait time when it is opened. In Digital Performer there is a cool looking splash screen during this time, but in GarageBand all we get is a boring "initializing" progressbar window. What I'm proposing is a Splash screen that will take the place of the "initializing" window and when that step is done, "morph" (like the login window for OS X) into a window of the same appearance as the splash screen, except possibly bigger, and contain options to open the last loaded project, open a different project, or start a new one. What do you think?
