I am looking to open a small grocery and was wondering what the best / easiest point of sale software is out on the market. I have access to quickbooks point of sale 3.0 software which looks like a kindergardener made the gui but it is all I have for now. Does that work well? I know it is windows based but I am from the camp the right tool for the job. Is there a better pos software that is maybe cross platform? How is the hardware compatibility? Does anyone have any comments on php point of sale. It did not look too impressive but it is free and web based. Any suggestions from the mac business folk would be greatly appreciated.

ive built a POS system in REALbasic before. believe me it is no simple task.
im curious to this myself. i made one for the state institution where i work. if there is a need for it i might make one.
