Hi guys. As always, a little help is appreciated.

I recently have bought Adobe CS Premium and love it. Best thing about it is the new InDesign which is so much better than the last version.

But one small thing is *SOOO* annoying: ID has this new "control palette" (or however it is called in English) which is very similar to the QuarkXPress one. So I attach it to the lower edge of the screen. But when I switch to the finder and unhide the dock and then switch back the palette and the document window and everything else moved up a few centimeters to accommodate the dock (which I like to have hidden in ID). WTF?

Is there any way to remove the dock-awareness of this application (or ANY application, I find it always annoying)? Help?

AFAIK, it's up to the developers of individual applications to properly implement Dock-awareness/options.

Yes, the dock-awareness is built-in if the developer not chooses to override it. And it is usually wanted because you cannot access the parts of windows behind the dock with your mouse or properly see them. That a window moves when an autohidden dock unhides just to click on something is an overkill though and you might want to give some feedback about that to Adobe and/or Apple.

You can reduce the size of the dock or maybe move it to the left or right side and should be able to use more or all of your screen.

i use dockblock .

i disable the dock with it, then open indesign (etc) from the apps folder (in my case, from a folder of aliases)...

which gives me the full screen on my powerbook.

nice!

I was afraid it would come down to disabling the dock all together. I guess I just have to live with the smaller screen then.

Thanks all the same for your replies, guys.

Why not just keep the Dock on autohide? It doesn't adjust the available screen rect for me.
